- Low Carbon Steel: - 5 to 15% sulfuric acid at 50 to 82 oC. - 25 to 85% (vol) hydrochloric acid to room temperature. - Dry acid salts, 120 g/l at 25 to 60 oC.
- High Carbon Steel:- Because of the tendency to smut in acid, mechanical methods of scale removal usually precede short acid dips.
- Stainless Steel: - 10 to 20% (vol) nitric acid plus 1 to 2% hydroflouric acid at 50 to 60%.
- Copper and copper base Alloy: - 10 to 40% (vol) sulfuric acid at room temperature. - 10 to 15% (vol) sulfuric acid plus 15 to 30 g/l of sodium dichromate at room temperature. - 25% (vol) sulfuric acid plus 12.55% (vol) nitric acid at room temperature.
