Acid Dipping Baths for Plating Lines

1. Low Carbon Steel:
  • 4 to 10% (vol) sulfuric acid at room temperature
  • 5 to 15% (vol) hydrochloric acid at room temperature
  • 60 to 120 g/l dry acid salts at room termperature
2. High Carbon Steel
  • 10% (vol) hydrochloric acid at room temperature
3. Stainless Steel:
  • 20 to 50% (vol) sulfuric acid at 65 to 82oC followed by 1% sulfuric acid plus 0,1% hydrochloric acid at room temperature.
  • 5 to 50% (vol) sulfuric or hydrochloric at room temperature.
  • 120 g/l of dry acid salt at 70oC and cathodic current.
4. Copper and Copper Base Alloys:
  • 4 to 10% (vol) sulfuric acid at room temperature
5. Lead and Alloys:
6. Nickel:
  • 5% (vol) sulfuric acid at room temperature
  • 20% (vol) hydrochloric acid at room temperature
  • 120 to 180 g/l dry acid salts at room temperature
7. Zinc:
  • 0.25 to 1.0% (vol) sulfuric acid at room temperature
